These fun packaging shots were a collaboration with Austin based Ptarmak: a self-described “boutique designery” that’s become a great collaborator on some really enjoyable shoots. We always seem to get the job done with happy clients, talented agency folks and a top-notch crew. Can’t ask for more than that. Check out the photos we did for the new tortilla chip packaging for the wonderful folks at Late July… “Sue and her team are highly proficient. All our expectations were met with exactness […]
Venables Bell & Partners’ fun campaign for Reebok’s new era “Pump” running shoe ads was a collaboration between myself and London-based retouching firm Shotopop. I loved the splash of illustration they layered over the photos I had done for the ads and wanted to do my own take with splashes of color. Top left is Reebok‘s ad, the other three are my own tests. To read more about this campaign, check out: Reebok‘s ZPump Fusion (Keep pushing The Pump to view the web campaign!) Ad […]
These are from a series of photographs created for Clearly Kombucha, a line of Kombucha beverages with a different vibe. They needed conceptual product stills to pair with a series of fashion model photos images with their flavors as style cues. The look of these needed to match the style and vibe of the flavor as well as the fashion shots. I pulled color, texture and style from the flavors with the use of props and materials that reflected the same sense […]
Many thanks to the judges of the APA “Something Personal” exhibit for selecting my photo as this years Best In Show. I’ve been in the judges seat a few times myself and I know what a difficult process it can be to select a “Best” out of so much great work (and we do have a lot of it here San Francisco’s professional community!). So…thanks to judges DeeAnn Budney of Hive Advertising, Alejandro Chavetta of Alejandro Chavetta Creative Direction & […]
Big thanks to Communication Arts for running such a great feature on my work. I’m proud to be a part of such a well respected and long-running publication. Check out the spreads in this blog. If you’d like to read the article you can download it here: Communication Arts | Sue Tallon.
Can I just say I LOVE New York? …..Manhattan I mean…the “Big Island” of the East. I’ve been going at least once a year for many years now and I miss it if too much time goes by between visits. It’s all about the place for me: the art, the towering immensity of it all, the walks (and walks!), the straight up people, the limitless good eats, the sometimes brusk encounters and the endless streets, sidewalks and cobblestones of all […]
Part 1: Now then… This past summer I came across a really interesting book about visual perception. It is rectangular (as books are) and orange, and very appealing. I read most of it and skimmed the rest. A couple of months later I came across a bigger book called “Visual Complexity – Mapping Patterns of Information,” also orange, rectangular and very appealing so I bought it and am still reading it. I can’t stop thinking about both of them. One […]
I’m at heart more of a picture maker than a picture taker. That’s not just semantics, It must come out of my love of construction. I like to build and design things…and photos; to have something beautiful in mind and set about making it. The best part about working this way is you never know where you’re going to end up. Great if you’re making an image, maybe not so great if you’re building a deck! In this case the […]
